京兆长安人。宋湜从弟。太宗太平兴国五年进士。历京西转运使、度支判官。淳化中，吕蒙正罢相，坐亲党，贬宜州团练副使。真宗咸平中，为环庆路都监，以擅发兵袭敌，责授供奉官。官终京西提点刑狱。
